First Thursday Art Show and Stock your Wine Cellar
Thursday March 1st, 2012 will be the inaugural first Thursday at Uptown Market. We are going to strive to provide artists a venue to display their art each first Thursday of the month to mirror the event that happens in the pearl district downtown. This particular event is going to showcase the art of Todd Herman, a comic artist in the local Portland community. Todd's art is normally featured in comic books but has a portfolio that will be revealed and available for sale on March 1st.
Along with the Art we are also going to be doing a Stock your Cellar event. This is a special event in which our wine distributor, Young's Market, is going to come out and taste some exceptional wines. As part of the promotion we are going to offer case sales at 10% markup on cost to be delivered to Uptown Market.
Dion Winery has also elected to participate in this event and will be here to taste their Pinot Noir selection. Dion Winery is a local winery that is self distributed locally and made locally.
David HIll Winery will also be present to taste some of their great wines.
This event is going to be a great chance to see some wonderful exciting art as well as taste some great wine. Join us Thursday, March 1, 2012 for this event. Scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
Our featured artist, Todd Herman is a cartoonist/storyboard artist/designer based in Portland Oregon, whose graphic novel credits include 'The Fog' and 'Cut' for Dark Horse Comics, 'Galveston' and 'Fall Of Cthulhu: Nemesis' for Boom! Studios, 'The Warriors: Jailbreak' for Dynamite Entertainment, as well as a three year stint storyboarding the Eddie Murphy stop action animated television series 'The PJ's'. A film version of his 2007 graphic novel, 'Cut', written by Dark Horse Comics founder Mike Richardson, is currently in preproduction at Peter Jackson's Weta Digital. His favorite genres are horror and comedy.

Logsdon Farmhouse Ales comes to Uptown Market
Logsdon Farmhouse Ales will be at Uptown Market this Friday from 5 to 7 pm. We are excited to have their brewer here to answer any questions that you might have regarding their wonderful beers! They will be tasting some of their great beers starting at 5pm. Most of their beers are USDA approved organic and a great opportunity to taste some new Belgian style ales made right here in Oregon. Bring yourself, bring your friends, but most importantly bring your taste buds cause they are going to be blown away!
Cascade Lakes Brewing on Wednesday!
Scott from Cascade lakes will be in to do a tasting this Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm. We are excited to have these guys back to our place as they were one of the initial breweries that came for our Grand Opening. Come celebrate with us and have some of their great beers!
Firestone Walker
That's right, Gold Medal winner, Firestone Walker is going to be in the house this Friday night! They are going to be serving some of their award winning craft beers from 5pm to 7pm. We will have their Double Jack on tap for your tasting pleasure and of course for pint sales and growler fills. Bring your friends, this event is going to be one that should not be missed.
Two Kilts Brewing!
Two Kilts Brewing Company is going to be at Uptown Market this coming Saturday! They are a brand new brewery that has opened up in Sherwood, Oregon. Come to Uptown Market this Saturday to support your newest local brewery! We will have their Russian Imperial Stout on tap! It's going to be a great time to meet the brewer and owner of two kilts and surely will be a great event full of Oregon craft beer.

Lagunitas Brewing Company is coming to Uptown Market
Lagunitas brewing company is going to be here this coming Thursday. They have a great selection of beer that they are going to bring to taste, so bring yourself, bring your friends and come in and get some great beer. Tasting is going to be from 5pm to 7 pm.
Stone Brewing is coming to Uptown Market
Erin from Stone Brewing is going to be here this coming Friday. As usual we are going to have one of their kegs on tap for your tasting along with whatever else she decides to bring. This is a great brewery so come out, show your support and have some great craft beer.

Tim from Powered by Yeast will grace us with his presence this coming Saturday at 3 PM. Tim has some wonderful brands that he represents including Fort George, which has just released their wonderful Oatmeal Pale Ale in cans this last week and will certainly be bringing that for a taste. We will have Wine, Mead and other Belgium beers for tasting along with Fort George Beer. Come by, get some great beer and drink and of course have lots of fun. Raffle for prizes will be held during the tasting.

Widmer Brew with the Brewer: Pitch Black IPA
The public has voted and It has been decided, Widmer is going to be brewing their Pitch Black IPA at Uptown Market on April 14th, 2012. This event is going to be an epic event of grand proportions. The plan thus far is for WIdmer to take over all 6 of Uptown Markets Beer Taps. Uptown Market in the mean time is going to try and do their best to clone a couple of Widmer's beers, the Drifter Pale ale and the Alt Beer. Those two will also be on tap for tasting during the event.!
What this means for you: We have agreed that 4 special people will get the opportunity to be the ones actually brewing with the brewer!
How you ask: We will be running a contest through our shop with an entry available at purchase announce the winners the first Thursday in April at Uptown Market. Check back soon for further details!
Full Sail Brewing
We have Full Sail Brewing in this Saturday from 3 to 6pm. They just recently released their Top Sail Brew. Burboun Barrel Aged Stout in 3 separate different whiskey barrels. If you haven't had this before, this is the time to get some!
Dumas Station Wine and Silver Moon Brewing
Dumas Station wine will be here this Thursday to taste their Cow Catcher Red, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Come by and taste some great wine this Thursday.
Silver Moon will also be in to taste their delicious brews.

Uptown Market was at Widmer Brewing to discuss the details of the upcoming brew with the brewer! The start of the event can be found on a poll on facebook in which we are asking the public to pick the beer that you want to brew at Uptown Market with a Widmer Brewer! While we are still discussing the final details of the event below you can find the blog post on our meeting with Widmer!
We met with Ben the Brewer to pick a date and set up some of the details. It was a big step toward a great upcoming event. They were kind enough to give us a private tour of their brewery as well!
Widmer was a wonderful host to us for the planning of the upcoming Brew with the Widmer Brewer! We were truly impressed with how compact all of the facility was. Keep checking back for upcoming details on the event! We will be selecting the beer from the facebook pole on Thursday 2/9!
BrewVana Tour!
Uptown Market was cordially invited to participate in a Brew Tour from Brewvana! What a tour it was. The bus painted on the inside with a Michelangelo theme but beer cups coming together, proved to be a stable thorobread for the entire group throughout the tour. Ashley was bubbly and an incredible tour guide as well as a wealth of information about the breweries and brews. We started the night out at Hopworks Urban Brewery. We received a brew tour from one of the head brewers.

The Tour included all the drinks and typically would hit 4 different breweries! Ours started out at Hop Works and from there went on to The Commons Brewery
The Commons Brewery is one of the newest nano breweries that has popped up in Portland. Mike started this brewery out of his garage, literally licensed his house as a brewery to brew from his home. Through his success he has been able to open a brewery and tap room for tasting. The space they have here is clean with the brew process just in front of where you are tasting!
We then headed on to Coalition Brewery. They have a fantastic Grilled Cheese food cart outside their place that we were able to get some food while tasting their delicious brews, they let you take it inside to eat as well.
We touched base at Burnside Brewing Company for a pitcher or two. Yet another great establishment in the Portland Area. Burnside brewing will be at Uptown Market this Friday for a tasting!
The last stop on our tour was Amnesia Brewing. Amnesia, in North East Portland is a very friendly place. A heated out door area during the winter and an incredible spot during our summer.
Thank you again to BrewVana for inviting me to Hop on the Bus and get some great craft beer. The trip was amazing and well worth it. If you have not experienced a brewery in the Portland area, this is one to try!

Woodchuck and Strongbow will be here on this Saturday at 3pm! Wow, do they have some good ciders! We are going to have their amber cider on tap, our first Cider! If you were not away cider is a great alternative for those trying to find gluten free beers! These Hard Ciders are key to the craft beer industry and we are thrilled that they are the first cider house to come into our shop!
We are sponsoring a team in the Ski to Benefit ALS program! Check out our page and help a wonderful cause that will benefit those that live in Oregon and Washington!

Ninkasi Brewing is going to be here from 5-7 pm. We are going to have their Sterling Pilsner on tap! If you haven't had a chance to get some of this one you will want to be here. Rare collaboration brew that was only available by draft! We are very much looking forward to this event.
Burnside Brewing will be here this Friday from 5-7 pm. We were just at their place over the weekend to drop by and say hi. These guys are great and if you haven't had a chance to check out their brew pub it is well worth it. If you haven't had a chance to check out their beers, this friday we will be sampling quite a few so drop by for this event!
