Green Flash Tasting 11/22
Green Flash tasting on Friday, November 22 right here at Uptown Market! Stop by from 5pm to 8pm!
"Mike and Lisa Hinkley took their interest in the craft beer industry to a new level in 2002 when they founded Green Flash Brewing Company. Former pub owners, Mike and Lisa jumped into brewing, and in 2004 renowned brewmaster Chuck Silva joined the team.
With Chuck on board we began brewing premium style beers, modern twists on traditional styles, and our beers began to develop a following. Cutting edge brews, Green Flash Brewing Company’s beers don’t fit traditional guidelines, instead we let our hybrid, benchmark beers blaze their own trail.
Located in San Diego, CA, we specialize in brewing assertive and distinctive beers, such as our West Coast I.P.A.: an award-winning beer whose wide acceptance has helped define a category. We also brew seasonal, collaborative and barrel-aged beers.
Our award-winning beers are on draft and bottled and are available throughout the United States in bars, restaurants and retail outlets.
We take craft brewing very seriously. We are brewing trailblazers and we believe in continuously evolving. Above all we champion the enlightened beer drinker. The Flash of Genius stories shed a (green) light on the rich heritage, flavor complexities and detailed process poured into our quality beers. Drink the beers, learn the story, taste enlightenment."

Ballast Point Tasting 11/2
Come on over to Uptown for a Ballast Point tasting from 5pm to 8pm Saturday, November 2nd!
After developing a taste for beer in college, founder Jack White decided to try making more interesting beer than he could find in the store or at a keg party. He developed a talent for home brewing in his back yard and soon realized it wasn’t easy to get access to the various supplies and ingredients he wanted—nor did he have anyone with whom to trade ideas about brewing.
In 1992, Jack opened Home Brew Mart, which he filled with the supplies, ingredients, and conversation every brewer needed to make better beer at home. Soon after, he found a collaborator in Yuseff Cherney, a fellow home brewer with a similar passion and a set of home brewing awards to boot. Together, they decided to open a “back room” brewery out of Home Brew Mart. In 1996, Ballast Point Brewing was born.
Jack and Yuseff’s philosophy has always been doing what they love, and making what they love to drink. So, naturally, they named the beers after something they loved almost as much as brewing—fishing. Today, many of the beers are named for fish or fishing terms, and the labels have fish on them as an homage to the brewery’s origins and as a reminder to always do what you love.
Mil Piedras Tasting 10/26
Join us on Saturday, October 26th from 5-8pm for a tasting featuring Mil Piedras!
Mil Piedras wines are made with estate-grown fruit from a single vineyard located in one of the most prestigious wine regions of Argentina, Valle de Uco. Benvenuto de la Serna, maker of Mil Piedras, is a small family winery owned by Silvio Benvenuto (Italian immigrant) whose mission statement is to “make 100% estate and 100% handcrafted wines."
The vineyard is located 1100 meters above sea level. Tucked away in the western most-end of Mendoza, the region has semi-desert climate with constant bright sun shines and very little rain fall. This region has the most pristine environment for water supply, essential for the vines in the desert, which comes from fresh snowmelt off the Andes mountains directly next to the vineyard (literally).

21st Amendment Tap Takeover!!! 10/11
Join us on October 11th for 21st Amendments tap takeover! Takeover starts at 5pm!
THE COMPANY:
In 2000, Nico Freccia and Shaun O’Sullivan founded the 21st Amendment Brewery in San Francisco’s historic South Park neighborhood. The popular brewpub is now at the heart of the new city center, just south of the financial district and only two blocks from the San Francisco Giants baseball park. In addition to eight rotating taps of multiple award-winning hand-crafted house beers, the pub has been voted “Best Brewpub”, “Best Burger” and “Best Happy Hour” by the San Francisco press.
Freccia and O’Sullivan met in early 1995 in San Francisco. Both had just moved from southern California to the Bay area when they heard the calling of beer. O’Sullivan, a former photographer and paralegal, “traded his suits for boots and was saved by beer”. He moved to Berkeley and took a job as assistant brewer at the Triple Rock Brewery there. Freccia, a writer, actor and, by extension, restaurant professional, was also an avid homebrewer. Frustrated with the lack of beer culture in the L.A. area, he moved to San Francisco and began writing for the Celebrator Beer News, the west’s largest beer publication. Freccia and O’Sullivan met, became friends and, while sitting together in a summer class on brewing science at UC Davis, hatched their plan for what would become the 21st Amendment.
What is the 21st Amendment?
Around the turn of the 20th century, in the year 1900, there were thousands of small breweries operating across America. When Freccia and O’Sullivan were researching old San Francisco breweries (trying to find a cool name for their new brewery), what really made an impact was the discovery that there were about 40 breweries operating just within the city limits of San Francisco (by comparison, today there are eight with a population more than double what it was in 1900). They realized that the brewery captured the essence of the neighborhoods of San Francisco. They were the local gathering places. Places to exchange ideas, debate politics and philosophy. Places for families to come together on weekends. Places that provided something unique—hand crafted beer that was different at every brewery and that defined the taste of a neighborhood.
In 1920, Prohibition wiped out this culture and put the “local” out of business. For 13 years, social interaction was largely driven underground, to the speakeasies, where regular citizens became a nation of outlaws.
But with the passage of the 21st Amendment, repealing Prohibition, we, as a society, were able to begin the slow climb back to reclaiming the essence of the neighborhood gathering place. At the 21st Amendment, they celebrate the culture of the great breweries of old, making unique, hand crafted beers, great food, and providing a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere that invites conversation, interaction and a sense of community.

Who We Are...
We're Roger Bialous and Manny Chao... a couple of beer loving local boys who brewed up a pretty darn tasty beer in the garage (actually it was the back deck, but garage sounds better). We decided to chuck our jobs... all for beer. Yee-haw.
In all seriousness, we're living out our dreams. We love beer. We love brewing. Here we are. Life's too short not to follow your beer, er... I mean passions. The Zen philosopher Basho once wrote, " a flute without holes is not a flute and a donut with no holes is a danish."
